East End House is a community center that uses a holistic approach to promote the well-being, academic achievement, and successful transition to adulthood of children and youth from under-resourced families in Cambridge and surrounding communities.
Position Summary:The Community Programs Operations Manager (Manager”) supports the daily operations of the Community Programs Department’s direct service initiatives, ensuring programs run efficiently, equitably, and with high impact. This position supervises and coordinates volunteers and ensures that program participants receive high-quality services. Reporting to the Senior Director of Community Programs, the Manager plays a key role in translating strategic priorities into operational success.
Key Responsibilities:
Program Management & Direct Service Coordination
- Support planning and execution of day-to-day operations of the following programs:
- Community Food Program (pantry, delivery, family & senior grocery programs)
- Senior Activities & Events
- Infant Necessities Program
- Annual Resource Assistance Events
- Maintain systems for participant intake, data tracking, and program evaluation.
- Execute compliance with program regulations, health/safety standards, and internal policies.
Volunteer Coordination & Support
- Coordinate volunteer shifts and supervise volunteer support for daily program needs.
- Work closely with the Senior Director to implement volunteer training and orientation programs.
- Ensure volunteers are supported, recognized, and integrated into program delivery.
Community Engagement & Participant Support
- Serve as the on-the-ground point of contact for participants, partners, and community members for operational matters.
- Build positive relationships with program participants, ensuring services are responsive to their needs.
- Address operational challenges in real time to maintain program quality.
Resource & Logistics Management
- Manage procurement, inventory, and distribution systems for food, infant necessities, senior activities, volunteers, and event materials.
- Support vendor relationships and coordinate with facilities staff to ensure smooth operations.
- Ensure all equipment, supplies, and spaces used by programs are well-maintained.
Development
- Provide regular supervision, coaching, and support to program volunteers.
- Lead onboarding and training for new volunteers within direct service roles.
- Coordinate with the Senior Director on staffing needs and performance management.
Administrative & Reporting
- Prepare reports on program participation, outcomes, and operational needs for the Senior Director.
- Support grant reporting by providing accurate program data and impact stories.
- Maintain updated documentation and operational protocols.
Qualifications:
The ideal candidate should meet the following:
- Skilled and passionate about the East End House mission and Theory of Change.
- Excellent problem-solver who can flexibly balance multiple tasks and responsibilities with superb organizational skills.
- Bachelor’s degree in related field or 2-3 years of relevant experience required.
- Skilled technology user, with database management experience preferred.
- Excellent interpersonal & team-building skills.
- Handles stress and manages conflicts well.
- Excellent organizational, management, and interpersonal skills, as well as strong written and verbal communication skills and team building skills.
- Must be able to utilize planning time effectively.
- Must be a positive ambassador for East End House in the community.
- Must attend all required staff meetings and trainings.
- Must adhere to the East End House policies and procedures.
