We are hiring a Transportation Control Tower Analyst to support global ocean freight operations across import and export shipments. This role acts as a central coordination point within the logistics network, ensuring end‑to‑end visibility, managing exceptions, and driving performance across carriers, ports, and inland transportation.This is a 12‑month contract role based in Franklin, TN, with onsite training for the first month followed by a hybrid work schedule. Candidates must have strong ocean freight experience.Responsibilities
- Monitor and manage international ocean shipments (FCL & LCL) from origin through final delivery
- Track vessel schedules, port congestion, ETAs, and capacity constraints
- Handle shipment exceptions including delays, missed sailings, demurrage, detention, and customs holds
- Coordinate pre‑carriage and on‑carriage movements (drayage, intermodal, inland transport)
- Act as a liaison with ocean carriers, NVOCCs, freight forwarders, and port terminals
- Track and evaluate carrier performance using KPIs such as on‑time delivery and transit reliability
- Manage cases within a control tower framework and perform root‑cause analysis
- Communicate shipment risks, delays, and recovery plans to stakeholders
- Analyze transportation data to identify trends and improvement opportunities
- Build dashboards and reports using BI tools (Power BI, Tableau)
- Support cost optimization initiatives, including rate analysis and accessorial cost control
- Validate shipping documentation (e.g., Bills of Lading) and ensure compliance with trade regulations
- Contribute to process improvements, system enhancements, and workflow standardization
Required Qualifications
- Proven experience in ocean freight operations (mandatory)
- Experience working with TMS, control tower platforms, and BI tools
- Strong analytical, problem‑solving, and communication skills
- Ability to manage high volumes of shipments and resolve complex logistics issues
- Experience collaborating with carriers, freight forwarders, and cross‑functional stakeholders
Preferred Qualifications
- Experience in a global transportation control tower environment
- Knowledge of demurrage and detention management
- Hands‑on experience with Power BI or Tableau (advanced skills preferred)
- APICS, CSCMP, or similar supply chain certification
Pay: $40.00 - $45.00 per hour
