Duties
- Safely operate a variety of trucks.
- Load and unload cargo using appropriate equipment such as forklifts when necessary, ensuring proper handling and securing of goods.
- Drive on designated routes, adhering to all traffic laws and safety regulations to ensure timely deliveries across local, regional, or national destinations.
- Conduct thorough pre-trip and post-trip inspections of the vehicle to identify maintenance needs or safety issues before and after each journey.
- Maintain accurate logs of driving hours, mileage, fuel consumption, and delivery documentation in compliance with company policies and regulatory requirements.
- Communicate effectively with dispatchers and customers to coordinate delivery schedules and resolve any issues that may arise during transit.
- Assist with the loading and unloading process when required, ensuring cargo is properly secured for transport.
Qualifications
- Proven experience in commercial driving with a focus on truck driving roles such as delivery driver experience or route driving.
- Valid commercial driver’s license (CDL) with necessary endorsements for operating tractor-trailers or refrigerated trailers.
- Experience handling various freight types including freight requiring specialized equipment like forklifts.
- Knowledge of safety regulations related to trucking operations including DOT (Department of Transportation) standards.
- Ability to load & unload cargo efficiently while adhering to safety guidelines.
- Strong communication skills for coordinating with dispatchers and clients effectively.
Nice-to-have Skills:
- Experience working with refrigerated trailers.
- Certification in forklift operation or other loading equipment.
