Senior Electrical Engineer - Power Electronics
Location: On-site, Hybrid, or Remote (based on business needs)
Position Type: Full-Time, Permanent
Salary Range: $110,000 - $155,000+ annually, depending on experience, technical expertise, and scope of responsibility.
We are seeking a Senior Electrical Engineer - Power Electronics to lead the design, development, testing, and production implementation of high-reliability power electronic systems. This role will drive complex designs from concept through production, supporting applications across industries such as aerospace, medical, industrial, defense, transportation, and advanced technology. Candidates with significant technical leadership, system architecture experience, and deep subject matter expertise may be considered for a Principal Engineer title.
The successful candidate will lead the design of AC/DC and DC/DC power conversion systems, EMI filters, and related analog circuitry, including topology selection, schematic capture, component selection, and PCB layout. Responsibilities include developing innovative, high-efficiency power solutions, building and testing prototypes, performing circuit debugging and root cause analysis, conducting thermal and performance evaluations, and optimizing designs for reliability, efficiency, and manufacturability.
This role also requires ensuring compliance with applicable safety, regulatory, and industry standards while supporting EMC/EMI testing and certification activities. The engineer will collaborate closely with manufacturing, quality, and supply chain teams to support product launches, improve production yields, and implement design-for-manufacturability and design-for-testability best practices. As a senior member of the engineering team, this individual will provide technical leadership, participate in design reviews, mentor junior engineers, and contribute to engineering process improvements.
Qualifications: Bachelor's degree in Electrical Engineering or a related field is required; an advanced degree is preferred. Candidates should possess at least five years of experience in power electronics, analog circuit design, or EMI/EMC engineering, with additional experience preferred for Principal-level consideration. Strong expertise in power conversion topologies such as Buck, Boost, Flyback, Forward, LLC Resonant, and Power Factor Correction (PFC) is required, along with experience designing magnetic components and transformers.
Applicants should be proficient with circuit simulation tools such as LTspice or PSpice and PCB design platforms such as Altium, OrCAD, or similar software. A solid understanding of high-voltage, high-current, and low-noise PCB layout practices, as well as EMI/EMC mitigation and compliance testing, is essential. Experience supporting products through the full development lifecycle, particularly in regulated or mission-critical environments, is highly desirable.
The company offers a competitive compensation package, comprehensive health benefits, retirement savings programs, paid time off, professional development opportunities, tuition assistance, and a collaborative engineering-focused environment with strong opportunities for career growth and advancement.
