Dominion Surveyors, Inc. is seeking candidates for an entry-level Design Engineer/Engineer-in-Training with 0-2 years of experience in the design of land development engineering projects.
Working under the supervision of a Professional Engineer, the candidate will be responsible for developing high-quality detailed design packages. This involves the preparation of engineering deliverables such as conceptual plans, exhibits, calculations and analyses, site and utility layouts, and construction specifications & drawings. Will include drainage analysis; developing plan and profile drawings and details; grading; utility plans; storm sewers; roadways; required easements; access drives; parking and more, in accordance with local ordinances and internal drafting standards. Candidate must effectively and cooperatively work as a team member of an integrated project team.
Candidate Requirements
- Proficiency with AutoCAD Civil 3D and Microsoft Office is required
- Experience in designing, preparing and processing land development applications preferred, but not required
- Ability to work in a project team environment and communicate well
- Demonstrated technical capabilities, leadership, and work ethic
- Reviews work of self and others for conformance with project work plan and company design standards
- Candidates must have the ability to make well-informed design decisions based on their knowledge of engineering concepts and locality requirements
- Bachelor’s degree is required
- Successful completion of Fundamentals of Engineering (FE) exam required and Engineer in Training (E.I.T.) designation preferred, but not required
- Attention to detail and consistency
Typical Duties Will Include
- Creation of CAD drawings and details for residential and commercial site and subdivision plans
- Designing site layout, access, grading, erosion and sediment control, stormwater management, utilities, etc.
- Performing stormwater outfall and sight distance analysis
- Researching and preparing feasibility studies for potential development
Job Type: Full-time
Pay: Commensurate with experience
Expected hours: minimum 40 per week
Schedule:
- 8 hour shift
- Monday to Friday
- Paid overtime available
Pay: $50,000.00 - $75,000.00 per year
