Position Summary
Emcor Enclosures is seeking a highly responsive, technically skilled Applications Engineer / Product Specialist to join our team. In this role, you will serve as the critical technical bridge between our customers, sales team, and engineering operations. Your primary focus will be delivering rapid, accurate, and innovative responses to customer requests for product modifications.
This position requires a unique blend of deep product expertise, rapid problem-solving abilities, and strong technical skills in both CAD modeling and programming automation. You will ensure that custom modification requests are evaluated, designed, and approved at a pace that keeps our customers' projects moving forward without delay.
Key ResponsibilitiesTechnical Customer Support & Rapid Modification Response
- Rapid Request Triage: Review, evaluate, and respond to customer product modification requests with urgency, aiming for industry-leading turnaround times.
- Deep Product Expertise: Master the entire Emcor product catalog, enclosure standards (including data center standards like Open Rack V3/OCP), and manufacturing capabilities to provide instant, credible technical guidance.
- Feasibility Analysis: Assess customer requirements against manufacturing capabilities, cost structures, and structural integrity to determine the viability of modifications.
- Cross-Functional Collaboration: Partner closely with Sales, Operations, Quality, [SA1] and Manufacturing teams to ensure proposed modifications are seamlessly executable on the shop floor.
Engineering, Design, and Automation
- CAD Modeling & Configuration: Utilize 3D CAD software to quickly modify existing enclosure models, generate concept drawings, and perform pre-checks for customer review.
- Design Automation Programming: Leverage Python and API scripting to automate repetitive design tasks, optimize product configurators, and drastically reduce engineering lead times for standard modifications.
- Documentation: Create clear, accurate technical write-ups, configuration rules, and initial bills of materials (BOMs) to transition won projects smoothly to production engineering.
Qualifications & SkillsRequired Technical Skills
- CAD Proficiency: Strong, hands-on experience with advanced 3D modeling software (Creo Parametric preference is a significant plus) for sheet metal and enclosure design.
- Programming Skills: Proficiency in Python (or similar scripting languages) with a demonstrated ability to write scripts for data manipulation, process automation, or CAD API integration.
- Systems & Standards Knowledge: Solid understanding of mechanical design principles, manufacturing tolerances, and sheet metal fabrication processes (laser cutting, bending, welding).

Education & Experience
- Bachelor’s degree in Mechanical Engineering, Manufacturing Engineering, Systems Engineering, or a highly related technical field.
- 2+ years of experience in an applications engineering, technical sales support, or product customization role within a manufacturing environment (enclosures, racking, or structural sheet metal preferred).
Pay: $90,000.00 - $100,000.00 per year
