The Senior Projects Director provides senior-level leadership and overall accountability for multiple complex construction projects, overseeing project execution, financial performance, contractual compliance, safety, quality, scheduling, risk management, and client relationships.
This role directs project teams consisting of project managers, superintendents, engineers, and project administration personnel while establishing operational priorities and ensuring projects are delivered safely, on schedule, within budget, and in accordance with contractual requirements. The position partners with business development leadership on client relationships, market development, project pursuits, and strategies to support profitable growth.
- Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Engineering, Construction Management, or a related technical field.
- 12+ years of progressive construction management experience with increasing levels of project and team responsibility.
- Demonstrated experience leading multiple complex construction projects simultaneously.
- Proven experience managing project financial performance, including forecasting, billing, cost control, and profitability.
- Strong understanding of construction contracts, subcontracting, procurement, buyout, insurance, bonds, and risk management.
- Experience overseeing project schedules and identifying and mitigating schedule risks.
- Experience managing project teams including project managers, superintendents, engineers, and project administration staff.
- Demonstrated experience managing owner, subcontractor, vendor, and other project stakeholder relationships.
- Strong technical, financial, contractual, and communication skills.
- Proficiency with Microsoft Office and standard construction/project management software.
- Experience leading large, complex, or technically sophisticated construction projects.
- Experience with GMP, lump-sum, or design-build projects, including development and submission of GMP packages.
- Experience managing the design phase of construction projects.
- Experience developing and executing subcontracting and procurement strategies.
- Strong background in contract negotiation, claims avoidance, and project risk mitigation.
- Experience overseeing multiple project teams or a portfolio of projects within a business unit or geographic market.
- Established relationships with owners, architects, engineers, subcontractors, and other AEC industry partners.
- Experience supporting business development, client capture, strategic account planning, and project pursuits.
- Experience developing and mentoring project management and field leadership teams.
- Knowledge of local construction markets, subcontractor availability, labor conditions, and competitive dynamics.
