POSITION SUMMARY
Forget Me Not Assisted Living is seeking a compassionate, organized, and experienced Assisted Living Administrator / Executive Director to oversee the daily operations of our 16-bed assisted living and memory care community.
The Administrator is responsible for ensuring the home provides safe, compassionate, person-centered care while maintaining compliance with Alaska assisted living regulations, developing and supporting staff, coordinating resident services, maintaining appropriate documentation, communicating with families and care professionals, and ensuring the financial and operational health of the community.
The ideal candidate is a strong leader who is equally comfortable managing people, solving problems, communicating with families, reviewing documentation, and stepping into the home when needed. We are looking for someone who leads with integrity, accountability, compassion, and respect for older adults.
QUALIFICATIONS / EDUCATION
The candidate must meet the applicable qualifications for an assisted living administrator under current Alaska regulations, including one or more of the following pathways:
- Completion of an approved management or administrator training course and the required documented experience relevant to the population served.
- Completion of an approved Certified Nurse Aide training program and the required documented experience relevant to the population served.
- At least five years of documented experience as an administrator or staff supervisor in a home serving 10 or fewer residents, when applicable under current regulations.
- Current licensure as a Licensed Practical Nurse (LPN) or Registered Nurse (RN), with documented experience relevant to the population served.
- Bachelor's degree in social services, healthcare administration, nursing, gerontology, or a related field preferred.
- Previous experience working with older adults, individuals with dementia, or residents requiring assistance with activities of daily living preferred.
- Three or more years of supervisory, management, healthcare, assisted living, residential care, or program development experience preferred.
- Ability to obtain and maintain all certifications and training required by the State of Alaska and Forget Me Not Assisted Living.
- Must successfully complete required criminal background checks and other regulatory screening.
- Current CPR and First Aid certification, or ability to obtain upon hire.
- Current TB screening as required by state regulations and facility policy.
- Professional references and employment references required.

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS
- Provide overall leadership and direction for the day-to-day operation of the assisted living community.
- Ensure residents receive safe, compassionate, individualized, and dignified care.
- Maintain appropriate occupancy while ensuring prospective residents are appropriate for the level of care provided by the community.
- Participate in the admissions process, including review of assessments, care needs, medical information, and service plans.
- Ensure resident service plans accurately reflect each resident's needs, preferences, strengths, and goals.
- Monitor changes in residents' physical, cognitive, emotional, and functional status.
- Coordinate appropriate responses to significant changes in condition.
- Maintain effective communication with residents, families, physicians, nurses, care coordinators, case managers, and other healthcare professionals.
- Respond appropriately to emergencies and ensure required notifications and documentation are completed.
- Promote a warm, homelike environment consistent with the mission and values of Forget Me Not.
- Maintain compliance with all applicable Alaska assisted living laws, regulations, licensing requirements, and facility policies.
SUPERVISORY RESPONSIBILITIES
- Provide leadership, supervision, mentoring, and support to all assisted living staff.
- Develop and maintain appropriate staffing schedules based on resident needs and regulatory requirements.
- Ensure adequate staffing coverage at all times.
- Participate in the hiring, interviewing, onboarding, training, evaluation, discipline, and termination of employees.
- Conduct regular staff meetings and communicate organizational expectations clearly.
- Provide ongoing coaching and performance feedback.
- Address staff conflicts and performance concerns promptly and professionally.
- Promote teamwork, accountability, professionalism, and respectful communication.
- Ensure staff understand and follow resident service plans and facility policies.
- Coordinate required staff training and continuing education.
- Maintain employee records and ensure required certifications, background checks, TB screening, CPR/First Aid, and other regulatory requirements remain current.
- Develop a strong team culture focused on resident dignity, safety, quality of care, and hospitality.
ADMINISTRATIVE RESPONSIBILITIES
- Maintain compliance with current Federal, State of Alaska, licensing, Medicaid, and other applicable requirements.
- Maintain accurate and timely resident, employee, medication, incident, training, and operational records.
- Ensure resident confidentiality and compliance with HIPAA and applicable privacy requirements.
- Ensure informed consent and resident rights are protected.
- Monitor facility policies and procedures and update them as needed.
- Prepare for and participate in licensing inspections, audits, surveys, and quality assurance activities.
- Coordinate required reports and documentation for regulatory agencies and other entities.
- Establish and maintain positive relationships with hospitals, physicians, pharmacies, home health agencies, care coordinators, case managers, senior service organizations, and other community partners.
- Participate in community meetings, workshops, seminars, and professional development opportunities.
- Assist ownership with annual budgeting, staffing projections, purchasing, and operational planning.
- Monitor supplies, equipment, food, medications, and other facility resources.
- Help identify opportunities to improve efficiency, resident satisfaction, staff retention, and quality of care.
- Maintain appropriate documentation of incidents, complaints, grievances, and corrective actions.
- Participate in quality assurance and continuous improvement activities.
RESIDENT CARE & PROGRAM RESPONSIBILITIES
- Oversee implementation of individualized resident service plans.
- Ensure residents receive assistance with activities of daily living according to their assessed needs.
- Monitor residents' changing needs and coordinate reassessment when appropriate.
- Ensure residents receive appropriate assistance with personal care, mobility, meals, hygiene, laundry, transportation coordination, and other services included in their care plans.
- Oversee medication management and medication safety processes in accordance with Alaska regulations and facility policies.
- Coordinate medical appointments and communication with healthcare providers as appropriate.
- Participate in care conferences with residents, families, care coordinators, healthcare providers, and other members of the resident's care team.
- Ensure care conferences and assessments occur at required intervals and following significant changes in condition.
- Coordinate appropriate discharge planning when a resident's needs can no longer be safely met within the community.
- Ensure resident records accurately reflect services provided and changes in condition.
- Promote meaningful activities, social engagement, independence, and quality of life.
- Support dementia-informed and person-centered approaches to care.
- Ensure residents are treated with dignity, respect, kindness, and compassion at all times.
STAFF TRAINING & DEVELOPMENT
- Develop and coordinate ongoing staff training and in-service education.
- Ensure new employees receive appropriate orientation before working independently.
- Provide training related to:
- Resident rights
- Dementia and Alzheimer's care
- Activities of daily living
- Medication safety
- Infection prevention and control
- Emergency procedures
- Fall prevention
- Abuse, neglect, and exploitation prevention and reporting
- Person-centered care
- Communication with residents and families

- Cultural sensitivity and respectful care
- Monitor staff competency and provide additional training when needed.
COMPLIANCE & QUALITY ASSURANCE
- Maintain readiness for Alaska Department of Health licensing inspections and other regulatory reviews.
- Ensure facility operations remain compliant with applicable assisted living regulations.
- Monitor compliance with resident service plans and documentation requirements.
- Review incident reports and identify trends requiring corrective action.
- Monitor medication administration and storage procedures.
- Monitor resident health and safety concerns.
- Conduct routine quality assurance reviews.
- Implement corrective action plans when deficiencies or performance concerns are identified.
- Ensure allegations or incidents involving abuse, neglect, exploitation, or other reportable events are handled and reported according to applicable requirements.
- Maintain accurate records required by state licensing and other regulatory agencies.
FAMILY & COMMUNITY RELATIONS
- Develop trusting and respectful relationships with residents and their families.
- Serve as a primary point of contact for resident and family concerns.
- Communicate proactively with families regarding significant changes in resident condition or care needs.
- Address complaints and concerns promptly and professionally.
- Help families understand the services, policies, care levels, and expectations of the community.
- Represent Forget Me Not professionally within the Anchorage senior care community.
- Develop relationships with referral sources and community organizations.
- Support community outreach and occupancy efforts.

PHYSICAL / WORK REQUIREMENTS
- Ability to work in an assisted living residential environment.
- Ability to sit, stand, walk, bend, and move throughout the facility for extended periods.
- Ability to respond quickly to resident or facility emergencies.
- Ability to assist with or support resident care activities when necessary, within the scope of training and authorization.
- Ability to work occasional evenings, weekends, holidays, or on-call hours as operational needs require.
- Must be comfortable working around illness, bodily fluids, medical equipment, and other aspects of residential senior care.
COMPENSATION
Salary: $60,000–$75,000 per year, depending on qualifications and experience.
