POSITION: Secondary Special Education Teacher
REPORTS TO: Building Principal and Director of Student Services
QUALIFICATIONS:

Hold a Michigan Teaching Certificate (may be granted temporary approval) or full approval in one or more areas of Special Education
RESPONSIBILITIES:
-
Collaborate with general education staff to accommodate secondary (9-12) curriculum, as appropriate, for students with disabilities

Coordinate paraprofessional support
-
Facilitate multidisciplinary evaluation team (MET) and Individualized Education Plan (IEP) meetings and perform all other case management duties
-
Develop and implement specially designed instruction and positive behavioral supports for caseload students
-
Develop and maintain an active parent/school communication program
-
Participate in all assigned in-service training and staff meetings, at both the building and departmental levels

Contribute as a member on various building and leadership teams
SALARY: Per Master Agreement (contract is under negotiation for 2026-27) - up to Step 9 on the WEA salary schedule with applicable years of experience and Superintendent approval

$3,000 signing bonus, paid in two installments throughout the first year of employment

$1,000 annual bonus for obtaining and maintaining a National Board Certification

Comprehensive retirement and insurance benefits packages (or $5,000 cash in lieu of health insurance)

Annual paid time off, as follows:
- 4 Personal Days
- 12 Sick Days

Longevity pay, once eligible

Early Notification and Early Retirement Incentives, if qualified

Sick bank payout available up to $15,000 upon retirement, if qualified
