Job Summary
We are seeking a patient, dedicated, and detail-oriented Teacher Assistant to join our team. The primary role is to support and lead a small group of students (approx. 6 children), assist in implementing the Montessori methodology, and maintain a safe, structured, and nurturing learning environment.
Key Responsibilities
- Direct Supervision & Support: Lead and support a small group of students, providing individualized attention and facilitating small-group learning activities.
- Classroom & Material Preparation: Assist the lead teacher in preparing the Montessori environment, maintaining learning materials, and ensuring classroom order.
- Progress Tracking: Observe and document student academic, social, and behavioral progress, sharing ongoing insights with the lead teacher.
- Environment & Classroom Management: Support positive behavior guidance, assist with conflict resolution among children, and adapt activities to support diverse learning styles.
- Daily Care & Safety: Ensure the physical and emotional well-being and safety of children throughout daily routines.
Requirements & Qualifications
- Certification / Licensure:
- Must be EEC Certified (Department of Early Education and Care) OR eligible/ready to apply for EEC certification.
- Education:
- High School Diploma or GED (Required).
- Associate Degree or coursework in Early Childhood Education, Special Education, or Child Development (Preferred).
- Experience: Previous experience working with young children in a classroom, tutoring, or childcare setting.
- Key Skills:
- Strong empathy, patience, and ability to work with diverse learning needs.
- Excellent communication and conflict-resolution skills.
- Flexibility and alignment with early childhood education/Montessori principles.

Responsibilities
- Implementing daily lesson plans aligned with developmental milestones and curriculum standards
- Support children’s emotional, social, and physical development through engaging activities and positive interactions
- Supervise children during classroom activities, outdoor play, meals, and rest periods to ensure safety at all times
- Help maintain a clean, organized, and safe classroom environment following health and safety regulations
- Provide individualized attention to children with special needs or disabilities as needed
- Support behavior management strategies to promote positive behavior and social skills
- Communicate effectively with parents regarding children's progress and daily activities
- Collaborate with team members to create an inclusive and supportive learning environment
Qualifications
- Prior experience in preschool, daycare, or early childhood education settings preferred
- Knowledge of childhood development principles and age-appropriate activities
- Certification in First Aid and CPR (or willingness to obtain upon hire)
- Experience working with children with disabilities or special needs is a plus
- Strong classroom management skills and ability to handle multiple children simultaneously
- Compassionate, patient, and attentive demeanor with excellent communication skills
- Ability to work effectively as part of a team in a dynamic environment
- Relevant background in childcare, babysitting, nannying, or working with students is advantageous
- Commitment to creating a safe, nurturing space that promotes learning through play and exploration
Pay: $2,800.00 - $3,600.00 per month
