Pharmacy Project Tech
Position Summary
Performs extensive administrative functions to support departmental operations. As a certified pharmacy technician, prepares, compounds, and dispenses medical orders/prescriptions under the direct supervision of a registered pharmacist.
Responsibilities
- Coordinates and performs department needs for projects, reporting, research, meetings, and committee work
- Provides department administrative support, including scheduling of staff
- Performs functions related to auditing both inter- and intra-departmental processes, and/or completes audit requests from external entities
- Participates in Standard Operating Procedure development and posting as assigned
- Participates in the development and training of pharmacy technicians
- Performs duties of a Certified Pharmacy Technician, including inventory and supply management
- Communicates effectively with customers
- Maintains comprehensive working knowledge of the department functions and processes
- Performs other related duties as assigned
- Familiar with standard concepts, practices, and procedures within the field
- Relies on experience and judgment to plan and accomplish goals
- Regular and predictable attendance is an essential job function
- Competent to meet age specific needs of the unit assigned
Requirements and Minimum Qualifications
- High School Diploma or GED preferred
- Graduate of a Pharmacy Technician training program or equivalent work experience preferred
- Certified Pharmacy Technician license with the Idaho Board of Pharmacy
- Must have Certified Pharmacy Technician (CPhT) status through an organization approved by the Idaho Board of Pharmacy
- Minimum 2 years’ experience as a pharmacy technician required
- Demonstrated expertise in pharmacy systems
- Demonstrated ability to use computer skills including keyboarding and practical data entry into data based software programs
- BLS required. Current AHA Healthcare provider, America Red Cross, AHA Health Saver or KH BLS during General Orientation
Working Conditions
- Must be able to lift or move up to 25 lbs
- Must be able to maintain a standing and/or sitting position
- Typical equipment used in a clinical job
- Must be able to stoop, crouch or bend
