CMM Inspector

Pay Rate: $35.00-$45.00 / DOE
Position Summary
The CMM Inspector is responsible for performing dimensional inspections of precision-machined and fabricated components using Coordinate Measuring Machines (CMM) and conventional inspection equipment. This position ensures products meet customer, engineering, and regulatory requirements while maintaining compliance with AS9100 quality standards. The CMM Inspector works closely with Manufacturing, Engineering, and Production Control to support first article inspections, in-process verification, and final acceptance of aerospace components.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities
- Perform dimensional inspections using Coordinate Measuring Machines (CMM).
- Operate and interpret results from CMM software such as PC-DMIS, CMM Manager, or equivalent.
- Conduct First Article Inspections (FAI) in accordance with AS9102 requirements.
- Perform receiving, in-process, and final inspections.
- Read and interpret engineering drawings, specifications, customer requirements, and GD&T.
- Verify product conformity using precision measuring equipment including:
- Micrometers
- Calipers
- Height Gages
- Bore Gages
- Optical Comparators
- Surface plates
- Thread Gages
- Pin Gages
- Indicators
- Document inspection results accurately and maintain quality records.
- Identify and document nonconforming material.
- Generate inspection reports and assist with customer documentation packages.
- Work with machinists and programmers to resolve dimensional issues.
- Support corrective and preventive action investigations.
- Assist with calibration activities as needed.
- Maintain inspection equipment in proper working conditions.
- Follow all AS9100, customer, and company quality procedures.
Required Qualifications
- High school diploma or GED.
- Minimum of 3 years of quality inspection experience in precision manufacturing.
- Experience operating Coordinate Measuring Machines (CMM).
- Ability to read and interpret engineering drawings and blueprints.
- Strong understanding of GD&T (ASME Y14.5).
- Experience using precision measuring instruments.
- Proficient computer skills including Microsoft Office.
- Strong attention to detail and organizational skills.
Preferred Qualifications
- Aerospace manufacturing experience.
- Experience programming CMMs using PC-DMIS, CMM Manager, or similar software.
- AS9100 quality system experience.
- AS9102 First Article Inspection experience.
- Experience with customer requirements from Boeing, Airbus, Lockheed Martin, Northrop Grumman, or other aerospace customers.
- Understanding of Statistical Process Control (SPC).
- Familiarity with ERP/MRP systems and electronic quality records.

- Ability to analyze inspection data and identify trends.
- Strong problem-solving and troubleshooting skills.
- Ability to prioritize multiple inspections in a fast-paced environment.

Physical Requirements
- Stand and walk for extended periods.
- Lift inspection fixtures and components up to 40 pounds.
- Frequent use of hands for measuring and handling precision parts.
- Excellent visual acuity for inspecting complex components.

- Climate-controlled manufacturing and inspection facility.
- Exposure to manufacturing equipment and machining operations.
- Required use of appropriate personal protective equipment (PPE).
