Dump Truck Drivers: $22 – $28/hour
Lowboy / Equipment Hauling Drivers: $26 – $32/hour
(Based on experience, MVR, and equipment proficiency)
Overtime available.
Job Overview
The Surface Masters, Inc. is hiring an experienced CDL Class A Driver with heavy equipment experience to support our construction operations. This role includes hauling materials and/or transporting heavy equipment, as well as assisting with equipment operation on job sites. We are looking for dependable drivers with strong safety records and hands-on experience in construction environments.
Key Responsibilities
Operate dump trucks to transport dirt, gravel, asphalt, and debris
OR
Operate lowboy trailers to haul heavy equipment (excavators, dozers, loaders)
Load/unload and operate equipment such as:
Excavators
Bulldozers
Skid steers / loaders
Backhoes
Perform pre-trip & post-trip inspections
Secure loads in compliance with DOT regulations
Maintain accurate logs (ELD compliance)
Follow all FMCSA, OSHA, and company safety standards
Assist crews on-site as needed
Qualifications
Valid CDL Class A license (required)
2+ years CDL driving experience
Experience with:
✅ Dump truck hauling (preferred for dump role)
✅ Lowboy/equipment transport (required for lowboy role)
Experience operating heavy equipment strongly preferred
Clean or acceptable Motor Vehicle Record (MVR)
Ability to pass drug screening & background check
Must meet insurance carrier requirements
Preferred Certifications
OSHA 10 or 30
Equipment operator certification
Skills
Strong knowledge of load securement & weight distribution
Ability to work safely in active construction zones
Reliable, punctual, and team-oriented
Good communication and problem-solving skills
Work Environment
Combination of local driving and job site work
