The City of Saco is seeking a school Crossing Guard to monitor street crossing during appointed times when children go to and return from school. Crossing guards escort children as they cross the street in marked crosswalks when necessary. In order to provide safety to the children, the Guard stops both sides of traffic to ensure safe crossing for the children either way on the crosswalk. In performing these duties, the guard records license plate numbers of any vehicle found disregarding traffic signs and signals. The Guard provides visibility for pedestrians and reminds drivers to slow down and follow traffic laws.
Salary is $20.00/hr
Essential Duties and Responsibilities:
- Provide safe crossing of school children and pedestrians,
- Keep traffic flowing without long delays during school hours,
- Understanding of basic traffic laws,
- Act quickly, calmly, and decisively in certain situations involving the safety of others,
- Aid in reporting of any emergencies of vehicle code violations during school hours.
