Youngsville Academy is seeking a Junior High Science Teacher (Earth and Life) to join our faculty. The ideal candidate will deliver rigorous, content-rich instruction in Earth Science and Life Science that builds scientific literacy, careful observation, and analytical thinking while preparing students for the demands of high school science and college.
Youngsville Academy is the top-performing school between Raleigh and Virginia, providing a classical, college-preparatory education. We maintain high academic and behavioral expectations and provide a vibrant school community where students are actively involved in college-preparatory academics, extracurricular clubs, and athletics. Key Responsibilities:
- Deliver rigorous instruction in Earth Science and Life Science aligned with a structured, knowledge-rich, college-preparatory model
- Develop students’ ability to observe carefully, reason scientifically, and communicate findings clearly
- Design and supervise hands-on investigations and laboratory work while maintaining strict safety standards
- Uphold high academic and behavioral expectations consistent with a classical college-preparatory environment
- Collaborate with faculty to reinforce scientific thinking and writing across the curriculum
- Support the mission and culture of Youngsville Academy through positive student engagement and professional conduct
Qualifications:
- Bachelor’s degree in Biology, Earth Science, Geology, Environmental Science, or a closely related field (Master’s preferred)
- Strong command of Earth Science and Life Science content and traditional, knowledge-rich instruction
- Commitment to a structured, college-preparatory classical model
- Exemplary classroom management skills
- Exemplary ability to engage students and foster a love of learning
- High energy and enthusiasm for teaching
- Willingness to receive coaching and constructive feedback
Required:
- Minimum: Bachelor’s or Master’s Degree
- Subject matter expert in Earth and Life Science
- Classroom experience
- Exemplary classroom management skills
- Exemplary ability to engage students and foster a love of learning
- High energy and enthusiasm for teaching
Job Type: Full-time
Pay: $50,000.00 - $64,000.00 per year
