Schedule: Monday through Thursday, 8:00 am -12:00 pm, includes 30 min of prep a day from July 6th - July 30th (Mon - Th)

General Description:
The Summer Success Multilingual Learner (ML) Program Teacher will provide engaging literacy and math instruction for students in grades K–5, fostering foundational skills, problem-solving, and a love of learning through whole-group and small-group lessons. Using Responsive Classroom practices, teachers will implement the Summer Success curriculum, including literacy components such as Fundations and foundational reading and writing instruction, as well as standards-aligned math instruction that builds number sense, reasoning, and fluency. Teachers will encourage academic discourse, hands-on learning, and student collaboration to support academic growth in a supportive and engaging summer learning environment. The main goal for the ML Teacher will be to engage students in all four domains of language: listening, reading, speaking, and writing is essential every day to develop their language skills.
Responsibilities:

Teach groups of students in grades K-5. (Grouping would not exceed 15-20 students)
- Use Responsive classroom management - morning meeting and closing circle

Conduct whole-group and small-group literacy and math lessons

Encourage a love of reading and talking about books

Work with students on writing in response to reading

Implement the Summer Success curriculum and incorporate creative activities as needed

Implement Fundations and foundational skill lessons
Qualifications:
-
A current Massachusetts ESL Teaching License/Certification is preferred, though a current Massachusetts Elementary License is acceptable.

Three or more successful years of experience teaching ESL students in literacy and/or math preferred

Experience working with elementary ELs preferred.

Experience collaborating with colleagues both in and out of the classroom

Familiarity with best practices in literacy and math instruction, and comfortable modeling instruction when needed

Holds the belief that all children can learn and learn to read and write effectively
- Familiarity with Responsive Classroom practices, language, and beliefs

An ability to engage students in using all 4 domains: listening, reading, speaking, and writing

Having students engage in academic conversations during every class

Attend pre-program training and weekly faculty meetings.
Physical Demands:
Regularly required to sit, stand, walk, talk, hear, operate a computer, hand-held learning devices, and other office equipment, reach with hands and arms, and must occasionally lift and/or move up to 10 pounds.
