Service HVAC Technician
Office Location: Richmond (Service)
Old Dominion Mechanical, LLC is hiring an experienced HVAC Service Technician to support our growing commercial service team. We’re looking for a dependable, skilled technician who takes pride in quality work, values safety, and can confidently troubleshoot and repair a wide range of commercial HVAC systems in the field.
In this role, you will be responsible for diagnosing issues, performing repairs, and completing preventive maintenance on equipment such as rooftop units (RTUs), split systems, heat pumps, air handlers, boilers, and building control systems. You will also work directly with customers to explain findings and recommend solutions, so strong communication skills are essential.
What You’ll Do:
- Troubleshoot, diagnose, and repair commercial HVAC systems
- Perform routine preventive maintenance to maximize system performance
- Test electrical components and ensure safe operation of equipment
- Read and interpret blueprints, wiring diagrams, and technical manuals
- Handle refrigerants in compliance with EPA standards, including leak detection and system charging
- Document service calls, parts used, and recommendations using company software
- Maintain a clean, organized service vehicle and manage tool/inventory needs
- Participate in an on-call rotation for emergency service
What We’re Looking For:
- 2–5+ years of commercial HVAC service experience
- Strong knowledge of HVAC systems, electrical components, and controls
- EPA Section 608 Certification (required)
- OSHA 10 or OSHA 30 (or willingness to obtain within 30 days)
- Valid driver’s license with a clean driving record
- Ability to work independently and manage time effectively
- Comfortable working on rooftops, ladders, and in tight spaces
Work Environment & Physical Requirements:
This position involves working at commercial job sites, both indoors and outdoors, including rooftops and mechanical rooms. Candidates must be able to lift 50+ lbs and perform physical tasks such as climbing, bending, and standing for extended periods.
