Nursing Assistant Job Description
Overview
The Certified Nursing Assistant (CNA) is a member of the Heart for Seniors team who works under the supervision of a Registered Nurse and performs personal care services as necessary to meet the client’s needs. The CNA is responsible for observing clients, reporting these observations, and documenting observations and care performed. The CNA will be assigned in a manner that promotes the quality, continuity, and safety of a client’s care.
Responsibilities
- Assist patients with daily living activities such as bathing, dressing, grooming, and feeding.
- Monitor and record vital signs including temperature, pulse, respiration, and blood pressure.
- Provide support in critical care settings and assist with emergency medicine procedures when necessary.
- Maintain a clean and safe environment for patients by adhering to infection control protocols.
- Document patient information accurately and report any changes in condition to nursing staff.
- Support patients with mobility needs, including transferring them safely to and from beds or wheelchairs.
- Collaborate with healthcare professionals to develop and implement individualized care plans for patients.
- Provide emotional support and companionship to patients, particularly those in geriatrics or pediatric intensive care units (PICU).
Qualifications
- High school diploma or GED
- Successful completion of a Home Health Aide/Certified Nursing Assistant program
- Certification as an HHA/CNA
- Minimum of one (1) year of documented experience required.
- Certified in CPR
- Negative TB skin test or chest x-ray
- Licensed driver with an automobile that is insured by the organization's requirements.
- Self-directing with the ability to work with little direct supervision
- Empathy for the needs of the client
- Demonstrate effective oral and written communication skills
- Ability to express spoken and/or written ideas in English
- Treats clients, staff, and the public with courtesy, and respect and presents a positive public image.
- Works as a team member
- Ensures confidentiality and security of the client’s medical information.

Pay: From $16.50 per hour
