Duties
- Assist veterinary staff during examinations, surgeries, and treatments by preparing equipment and handling animals with care and confidence
- Provide animal restraint and handling to ensure safety for both animals and staff during procedures
- Support laboratory work including sample collection, processing, and record keeping for diagnostic testing
- Administer medications and injections following aseptic techniques and veterinary protocols
- Maintain cleanliness of treatment areas, kennels, cages, and surgical suites through thorough cleaning and sanitation practices
- Help with animal husbandry tasks such as feeding, bathing, grooming, and monitoring behavior to promote animal welfare
- Communicate effectively with clients regarding pet care instructions, medication schedules, and follow-up needs while demonstrating excellent customer service skills
Requirements
- Prior 1-2 years of kennel experience or veterinary clinic experience
- Strong animal handling skills including dogs, cats
- Knowledge of veterinary terminology, anatomy, physiology, and basic medical procedures such as IV insertion and catheterization is preferred
- Experience with front desk duties such as appointment scheduling or client communication is a plus
- Ability to perform physical tasks including lifting animals, restraining pets safely, and cleaning kennels or surgical areas
- Familiarity with personal protective equipment (PPE) use to ensure safety during clinical procedures
- A genuine passion for animal welfare combined with excellent record keeping skills and attention to detail
