The Planning and Development Department is actively seeking a Professional Architect.

This is professional architectural work at the lead worker level in planning, reviewing, and designing new buildings, facilities, structures, and renovations or expansions. Work requires a knowledge of the principles and practices of architecture which is gained through a combination of education and extensive experience. Plans, schedules, coordinates, and reviews the work of assigned personnel. Contacts require skills in understanding and influencing others to obtain desired results and are important in coordinating activities. The work is covered by clearly defined policies and principles where the incumbent is required to exercise judgment in accomplishing objectives. The work is performed in an office and field environments where there are some risks and hazards, but they are known, predictable, and controllable. Operates standard office equipment such as personal computer specialized systems, and motor vehicle. The physical demands consist of sitting or standing on occasion walking and lifting and moving objects weighing up to 20 lb. The work is performed under administrative direction where the work is reviewed in terms of feasibility and compatibility with other projects and effectiveness in meeting requirements or required results.
- Eight (8) years of education and/or experience in architectural work.

The probationary period for this classification is 6 months.
LICENSING/CERTIFICATION/REGISTRATION:

A valid driver's license Is required prior to appointment and must be maintained during employment in this class.

Must qualify for prior to appointment, obtain, and maintain during employment a City of Jacksonville Public Driver Certification.

FLA Professional Architect Registration is required & must be maintained.

If an active Professional Licensed Architect from another state, must transfer or obtain registration in Florida as a Professional Architect within 6-months of employment.
