Monticello Academy is seeking a reliable, safety-minded, and student-focused Bus Driver to transport students safely to and from school each day.
The Bus Driver is responsible for operating a school bus in a safe, courteous, and professional manner while following all applicable federal, state, and local transportation laws and school policies. This position plays an important role in helping students access Monticello Academy's rigorous academic program by providing dependable daily transportation.
Monticello Academy recently received a $2 million Charter School Program Expansion Grant to support the expansion of our West Point campus through junior high. A major part of this expansion includes creating a reliable transportation system that will allow more families and students to access Monticello Academy's rigorous academic program.

The West Point campus is entering its seventh year and is expanding from K–7 toward K–9 over the next several years.
Position Overview
The Bus Driver will report to the Transportation Manager and is responsible for safely transporting students on assigned morning and afternoon bus routes. This position includes conducting required safety inspections, maintaining accurate transportation records, communicating professionally with students, parents, and school staff, and ensuring students are transported safely and efficiently.
The successful candidate will be dependable, punctual, safety-focused, and committed to providing outstanding service to Monticello Academy students and families.
Key Responsibilities
- Safely operate a school bus on assigned morning and afternoon routes.
- Conduct required pre-trip and post-trip vehicle inspections.
- Ensure the safe loading, transportation, and unloading of students.
- Maintain appropriate student behavior while on the bus in accordance with school expectations.
- Follow all federal, state, local, and school transportation laws, regulations, and safety procedures.
- Complete required transportation logs, inspection reports, and incident documentation.
- Report maintenance concerns or mechanical issues promptly.
- Maintain cleanliness of the assigned bus.
- Communicate professionally with school staff, parents, and students regarding transportation matters.
- Assist with transporting students for approved field trips and school activities as assigned.
- Respond appropriately and calmly during emergencies following established procedures.
- Promote a culture of safety, professionalism, reliability, and outstanding service to students and families.

Required Qualifications
- Commercial Driver's License (CDL) with appropriate school bus and passenger endorsements.
- Clean driving record.
- Ability to safely operate a school bus.
- Ability to complete required pre-trip and post-trip inspections.
- Ability to pass all required background checks and meet school employment requirements.
- Ability to perform the physical duties associated with student transportation, with or without reasonable accommodation.
- Strong attendance and reliability.
Preferred Qualifications
- Previous school bus driving experience.
- Knowledge of Utah school transportation requirements.
- Experience working with children.
- Familiarity with student safety procedures and emergency response.
- Spanish-language communication ability.
Schedule
Approximately 20 hours per week during the school year.
Drivers typically work split shifts before school and after school, transporting students on assigned morning and afternoon routes. Additional hours may occasionally be available for field trips, athletic events, or other approved school activities.
Compensation
- $25.00 per hour
