Duties
- Assist painters with surface preparation, including sanding, scraping, and cleaning surfaces before painting begins
- Mix paints and primers accurately according to project specifications using basic math skills
- Handle hand tools and power tools safely and efficiently during painting and prep work
- Support the application of paint using brushes, rollers, airless paint sprayers, or other equipment under supervision
- Prepare work areas by masking off surfaces, installing drop cloths, and setting up scaffolding or ladders as needed
- Help with related construction tasks such as caulking, drywall patching, plastering, trim carpentry, and fixture installation
- Read blueprints or schematics to understand project requirements and ensure precise execution of tasks
Requirements
- Basic understanding of construction estimating, blueprint reading, and schematics is preferred but not required; willingness to learn is essential
- Familiarity with hand tools, power tools, and safety procedures on construction sites
- Experience or interest in residential or commercial painting projects; knowledge of color theory is a plus
- Ability to perform physical tasks including lifting heavy materials, standing for extended periods, and working at heights with safety gear
- Strong attention to detail and commitment to quality workmanship
- Good communication skills and ability to follow instructions accurately
- Prior experience in construction painting or related fields such as restoration, remodeling, masonry, or handyman work is advantageous
