Director of Nursing (DON) – Ambulatory Surgery Centers
About the Position
We are a growing Interventional Pain Management practice seeking an experienced Director of Nursing (DON) to oversee the clinical and nursing operations of our two Ambulatory Surgery Centers (ASCs).
Our ASCs perform a wide range of Interventional Pain and Minimally Invasive Spine procedures, including ESI, MBB, RFA, Cervical & Lumbar Fusion, SI Fusion, SCS Implants, MIS Surgeries, Microdiscectomy, Nerve blocks and other advanced pain and spine procedures.
The ideal candidate is a hands-on clinical leader with strong ASC and operating room experience who can effectively manage staff, maintain regulatory compliance, and ensure safe and efficient surgical operations.
The Director of Nursing will report directly to the Medical Director, COO, and CEO.
Key Responsibilities
- Oversee nursing and clinical operations across two ASCs
- Lead, supervise, schedule, and evaluate nursing and clinical staff
- Coordinate daily surgical operations, staffing, and patient flow
- Ensure high standards of patient safety and quality of care
- Maintain compliance with MIPS, CMS, OSHA, state regulations, AAAASF (Triple A), infection-control requirements, and applicable accreditation standards.
- Maintain continuous survey and accreditation readiness
- Oversee infection prevention, QAPI, medication management, and emergency preparedness
- Ensure staff licenses, certifications, competencies, and credentialing remain current
- Manage clinical policies, documentation, supplies, medications, and equipment
- Investigate clinical incidents and implement corrective actions when necessary
- Work closely with physicians, anesthesia providers, and executive leadership
- Identify opportunities to improve clinical efficiency, staff performance, and patient experience
Qualifications
- Current and unrestricted Registered Nurse (RN) license
- 5+ years of nursing experience
- 2+ years of leadership or management experience preferred
- Previous ASC and Operating Room (OR) experience strongly preferred
- Experience in Interventional Pain Management, Spine, MIS Surgery, Orthopedics, or similar procedural specialties preferred
- Knowledge of CMS, AAAASF, QAPI, infection prevention, and ASC accreditation requirements
- Current BLS and ACLS certifications
- BSN preferred
- Strong leadership, organizational, and communication skills
- Ability to oversee operations and teams across two locations
