Position Summary
We are seeking a skilled and adaptable Registered Nurse (RN) to join our ambulatory surgery center as an OR Circulating and PACU Float Nurse. This role supports both the operating room and post-anesthesia care unit, providing safe, efficient, and compassionate care throughout the perioperative continuum.
The ideal candidate is detail-oriented, calm under pressure, and comfortable transitioning between intraoperative and recovery roles in a fast-paced outpatient surgical environment.
Key Responsibilities
Operating Room – Circulating Duties:
- Circulate for outpatient surgical procedures
- Prepare operating rooms, verify equipment and supplies, and maintain a sterile environment
- Perform pre-operative assessments and ensure accurate documentation
- Participate in time-outs, counts, and safety protocols
- Advocate for patient safety and coordinate with surgeons, anesthesia providers, and surgical staff
PACU / Recovery Room Duties:
- Monitor patients during post-anesthesia recovery
- Assess airway, vital signs, pain levels, and surgical sites
- Administer medications and treatments as ordered
- Identify and respond to post-operative complications
- Provide patient and family education for safe discharge
- Ensure complete and accurate documentation
Qualifications
- Current Arizona RN license (or compact state license)
- OR circulating and/or PACU experience required
- BLS required
- ACLS required or willingness to obtain
- Strong assessment, communication, and organizational skills
- Ability to float seamlessly between OR and PACU as needed
