Responsibilities
- Assist veterinarians during examinations, surgeries, and diagnostic procedures by preparing instruments, maintaining sterile fields, and monitoring anesthesia.
- Perform animal restraint and handling using proper techniques to ensure safety for both animals and staff.
- Conduct laboratory tests such as blood work, urinalysis, and other diagnostics to support accurate diagnoses.
- Maintain detailed records of patient treatments, medications, and procedures in accordance with clinic protocols.
- Support pet care activities including grooming, feeding, administering medication, and monitoring recovery.
- Handle animal catheterization, X-ray imaging, and other technical procedures with precision and aseptic technique.
- Manage kennel duties including cleaning, feeding, and monitoring animals’ health status to ensure optimal animal husbandry practices.
Requirements
- Prior kennel experience or animal handling experience: must demonstrate confidence in dog handling and pet care.
- Knowledge of veterinary terminology, animal anatomy, physiology, and veterinary critical care practices.
- Laboratory experience including sample collection and analysis, phlebotomy.
- Strong understanding of animal restraint techniques and aseptic procedures to prevent infection.
- Ability to communicate effectively with team members and pet owners about pet health needs.
- Certification or experience in veterinary technician duties is advantageous; however, motivated individuals with relevant animal care backgrounds are encouraged to apply. Pay: $16.00 - $18.00 per hour
