Position Overview
We are seeking a hands-on Data Center Technician for a 3–5 month contract position with the possibility of extension based on project needs and performance. This role will support low-voltage infrastructure, structured cabling, rack-and-stack work, pathway installation, and facility technology projects in data center and mission-critical environments.
This role is ideal for someone with experience in commercial low-voltage, telecom, structured cabling, data center construction, or network infrastructure. The right candidate is safety-focused, detail-oriented, mechanically inclined, and comfortable working in active construction or technical facility environments.
Responsibilities
- Pull, route, dress, terminate, test, and label copper and fiber cabling.
- Install and support Cat6/Cat6A copper, single-mode fiber, multi-mode fiber, and related low-voltage cabling.
- Install cable pathways, ladder rack, tray systems, conduit, support hardware, and other infrastructure.
- Assist with rack-and-stack work, including racks, cabinets, patch panels, network equipment, and related components.
- Place conduit, pull wire, and support infrastructure buildout activities as needed.
- Install smart building maintenance hardware, sensors, and related facility technology components.
- Ground and bond racks, pathways, cabinets, and associated infrastructure according to site requirements.
- Read and follow prints, drawings, cable schedules, rack elevations, labels, and project documentation.
- Troubleshoot cabling issues, failed links, signal loss, labeling discrepancies, or installation defects.
- Maintain accurate documentation of completed work, labels, test results, and installation progress.
- Follow all site safety requirements, PPE standards, and quality expectations.
Qualifications
- 1–3 years of experience in low-voltage installation, structured cabling, telecom, data center construction, network infrastructure, or a related field.
- Experience pulling, dressing, terminating, testing, and labeling copper and/or fiber cabling.
- Familiarity with hand tools, power tools, punch-down tools, wire strippers, crimpers, cable testers, and other trade tools.
- Ability to read basic drawings, prints, labels, and installation instructions.
- Strong attention to detail, reliability, and commitment to safety and quality.
- Experience with rack-and-stack, ladder rack, cable tray, conduit, grounding, bonding, smart facility hardware, or sensors is a plus.
- OSHA 10, lift certification, BICSI, fiber, copper, or other trade-related certifications are preferred.
Physical Requirements
- Ability to lift, carry, push, pull, and maneuver up to 50 lbs.
- Ability to stand, walk, bend, kneel, squat, reach, climb, and work overhead for extended periods.
- Comfortable working from ladders, lifts, platforms, or elevated work areas when required.
- Strong color vision required for identifying copper pairs, fiber strands, labels, and color-coded cabling.
Pay: $25.00 - $32.00 per hour
