Job Summary
We are seeking a Preconstruction Director to lead our preconstruction department. This role oversees estimating, project pursuits, pricing strategy, team leadership, and preconstruction operations while partnering with executive leadership, operations, business development, and clients to drive successful project pursuits and smooth transitions to construction.
Responsibilities
- Lead preconstruction strategy, processes, and estimating standards
- Oversee estimating and preconstruction activities to ensure accurate, competitive pricing
- Develop pricing strategies and assess project risks during pursuits and proposals
- Collaborate with executive leadership on project selection, pursuit strategy, and growth initiatives
- Build and maintain relationships with clients, architects, engineers, and design teams
- Oversee subcontractor relationships, procurement, and bid management
- Lead, mentor, and develop the preconstruction team
- Coordinate with operations and business development to ensure project alignment
- Evaluate estimating accuracy, project outcomes, and department performance
- Support major proposals, interviews, presentations, and strategic pursuits
- Manage department priorities, resources, and workload
- Perform other duties as assigned
Qualifications
- 10+ years of preconstruction, estimating, or commercial construction experience, including leadership experience
- Extensive experience leading estimating and preconstruction efforts for commercial projects
- Strong knowledge of construction methods, pricing, procurement, and risk management
- Proven ability to lead and develop estimating or preconstruction teams
- Strong financial, analytical, and strategic planning skills
- Excellent communication, presentation, and client relationship skills
- Proficiency with estimating software and Microsoft Office
- Ability to manage multiple project pursuits while maintaining accuracy and consistency
- Experience working with operations, business development, and executive leadership
- Bachelor's degree in Construction Management, Engineering, or a related field preferred

Pay: From $145,000.00 per year
