Full Charge Bookkeeper
Location: Putnam, CT
Compensation: Up to $85,000
Schedule: Full-Time | Monday-Friday | Onsite
Our client, a stable and privately owned manufacturing company, is seeking a Full Charge Bookkeeper to oversee the company's day-to-day accounting operations. This is a hands-on role where you'll be responsible for the entire accounting cycle while working directly with ownership and supervising one Accounting Assistant.
This position is ideal for someone who enjoys owning the accounting function, wearing multiple hats, and working in a small, team-oriented manufacturing environment.
Responsibilities
- Manage the full-cycle accounting function.
- Prepare monthly financial statements and assist with month-end and year-end close.
- Maintain the general ledger and prepare journal entries.
- Perform bank, balance sheet, and account reconciliations.
- Oversee accounts payable and accounts receivable.
- Process and/or oversee payroll.
- Maintain inventory accounting records and assist with inventory reconciliations.
- Monitor cash flow and prepare basic financial reports for ownership.
- Coordinate with the outside CPA on year-end audit and tax preparation.
- Ensure accounting records are accurate and compliant with GAAP.
- Develop and improve accounting procedures and internal controls.
- Supervise and support one Accounting Assistant.
- Assist with budgeting, forecasting, and special projects as needed.
Qualifications
- 5+ years of bookkeeping or accounting experience with responsibility for the full accounting cycle.
- Experience preparing financial statements and completing month-end close.
- Strong understanding of general ledger accounting, reconciliations, payroll, AP, and AR.
- Manufacturing or inventory accounting experience is strongly preferred.
- Experience working directly with ownership or senior leadership.
- ERP and Microsoft Excel proficiency.
- Highly organized with the ability to manage multiple priorities independently.
