Bison Payments is looking for a Factoring Credit Analyst to evaluate the creditworthiness of account debtors across our commercial factoring portfolio. The Credit Analyst is a key part of the underwriting and portfolio management process, responsible for determining the credit quality of the businesses whose invoices we purchase — and for setting appropriate concentration limits, approval thresholds, and exposure guidelines. A significant portion of our portfolio serves the oil and gas sector, so familiarity with upstream, midstream, and oilfield services credits is a meaningful advantage.
ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS:
- Conduct credit reviews on new and existing account debtors
- Pulling and interpreting business credit reports, trade references, and publicly available financial data
- Analyze debtor payment history, aging trends, and industry risk — with particular attention to oil and gas operators, E&P companies, midstream operators, and oilfield service contractors
- Assess how commodity price cycles, rig count trends, and operator cash flow affect debtor payment behavior and credit quality
- Assign credit limits and flag concentrations or deteriorating credits for senior review
- Work closely with the originations and portfolio management teams to support onboarding of new clients and ongoing monitoring
- Maintain credit files and document findings in accordance with internal policy
- Perform other duties and various special projects as assigned
JOB REQUIRMENTS:
- Bachelor’s degree in Business, Finance, or related field preferred
- 2–4 years of experience in commercial credit, accounts receivable finance, factoring, or a related lending environment
- Prior exposure to oil and gas credits — whether at a bank, oilfield services lender, factoring company, or energy-focused ABL shop — is strongly preferred
- Strong working knowledge of business credit bureaus (Dun & Bradstreet, Experian Business, etc.) and trade payment data
- Ability to read an operator's financial position and understand how production levels, hedging, and commodity exposure flow through to payables behavior
- Comfort analyzing debtor aging schedules and spotting concentration, dilution, or sector-driven deterioration risk
- Attention to detail and the ability to work at volume without sacrificing accuracy
- Excellent verbal & written communication skills, with the ability to present data and reports effectively
- Proven ability to work both independently and in a collaborative environment to achieve client satisfaction and retention goals
