The Community Relations Assistant supports the promotion, outreach, and public engagement efforts of the Klamath Basin Senior Center. This position assists with community outreach, marketing, events, communications, volunteer engagement, and public relations activities that help increase awareness of programs and services available to seniors throughout the Klamath Basin region.
The Community Relations Assistant works closely with the Executive Director, staff, volunteers, sponsors, community partners, and media outlets to support the organization’s mission and strengthen community relationships.
Community Outreach & Engagement
- Assist with outreach efforts to promote programs, transportation services, Meals on Wheels, wellness activities, and special events.
- Build positive relationships with community organizations, businesses, sponsors, and local agencies.
- Represent the organization at community events, fairs, expos, networking meetings, and outreach activities.
- Help increase public awareness of services and programs available to seniors.
- Assist with volunteer recruitment and community engagement efforts.
Marketing & Communications
- Create and distribute flyers, newsletters, brochures, social media posts, and promotional materials.
- Assist with maintaining social media platforms and updating website content.
- Support marketing campaigns and public awareness initiatives.
- Assist with photography, videos, and storytelling efforts for community outreach and promotional purposes.
- Help ensure branding and messaging remain professional and consistent.
Event Support
- Assist with planning, promoting, and coordinating community events and fundraising activities.
- Help coordinate vendors, sponsors, volunteers, and event logistics.
- Support event setup, registration, and community engagement activities.
- Assist with sponsorship outreach and donor recognition efforts.
Administrative Support
- Maintain organized outreach materials, marketing calendars, and communication records.
- Track outreach activities and assist with reporting as needed.
- Provide general office and administrative support related to community engagement activities.
- Attend staff meetings, trainings, and organizational events as required.
Qualifications
- Strong communication and interpersonal skills.
- Experience in customer service, marketing, outreach, or nonprofit work preferred.
- Familiarity with social media platforms, Canva, Microsoft Office, and basic computer skills preferred.
- Strong organizational skills and ability to multitask.
- Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
- Passion for serving seniors and supporting community-based programs.
- Valid driver’s license preferred.
Physical Requirements
- Ability to sit, stand, walk, and lift outreach or event materials up to 25 pounds.
- Ability to attend occasional evening or weekend events as needed.
