Job Summary
Our Glazing Estimators hold a critical role responsible for evaluating architectural plans, performing detailed material takeoffs, and calculating labor and equipment costs for commercial glass projects. You will drive the bidding process by sourcing material quotes, reviewing specifications, and ensuring all bids are submitted accurately and on time to win profitable contracts.
Key Responsibilities
- Plan & Spec Analysis: Review blueprints, addenda, and specifications to determine the exact scope of work and building requirements.
- Takeoffs & Costing: Compile detailed material takeoffs and compute costs for glass, aluminum framing, hardware, labor, and installation.
- Bid Management: Solicit and level bids from vendors and subcontractors to ensure competitive, complete bid packages.
- Risk Assessment: Identify project risks, sequencing issues, and value engineering opportunities.
- Collaboration: Partner closely with project managers and field leadership to ensure estimates align with real-world installation conditions.
Qualifications & Requirements
- Experience: 5+ years of dedicated estimating experience in the commercial glass and glazing industry.
- System Knowledge: Strong working knowledge of storefronts, curtain walls, window walls, and architectural hardware.
- Technical Skills: Proficiency with blueprint reading and estimating software.
- Communication: Excellent verbal and written communication skills for dealing with general contractors, architects, and suppliers.
