Job Overview
We are seeking a dependable, engaging, and compassionate Direct Support Professional to support a 19-year-old young adult with Down syndrome and ADHD in Manhattan Beach. This is a home- and community-based role focused on promoting interdependence, encouraging positive social engagement, and supporting participation in after-school and weekend activities.
This role is ideal for someone who enjoys mentoring young adults, staying active in the community, and helping individuals build confidence, interdependence, and meaningful life skills in the home as well as in the community. We are looking for someone who can provide encouragement, promote responsibility, and create a positive, supportive environment.
Schedule
We are hiring for part-time shifts to support:
- Wednesday: 3:30 PM – 7:30 PM
- Saturday: 10 AM – 6 PM
- Sunday: 10 AM – 6 PM
Consistency and reliability are essential.
About the Role
As a Direct Support Professional, you will provide one-on-one support at home and throughout the community.
- Supporting after-school routines and community integration
- Assisting with transportation to activities, appointments, and outings
- Encouraging independence, interdependence, decision-making, and daily living skills
- Supporting participation in recreational, social, and fitness activities
- Helping organize and manage a weekly activity schedule
- Building social confidence and encouraging meaningful interactions
- Providing mentorship while maintaining appropriate professional boundaries
- Maintaining a balance of consistency and responsibility while remaining flexible when a pivot is needed
- Committed to treating every individual with dignity and respect

Requirements
- Valid Driver’s License & reliable transportation
- Background check & fingerprint clearance
- Ability to remain attentive and active throughout the shift
- Ability to safely provide full personal care and hygiene assistance
- Ability to support an active adult during community outings and recreational activities
- Professional, patient, and consistent
- Strong communication and teamwork skills
Experience supporting individuals with Down syndrome, ADHD, or developmental disabilities is helpful but not required.
