Job Overview
We are seeking skilled and motivated Manual Machinist(s) specializing in LATHE and/or MILL operations to join our dynamic manufacturing team. In this role, you will be responsible for setting up, operating, and maintaining manual lathes and milling machines to produce precision components. Your expertise will ensure that parts meet strict quality standards while adhering to safety protocols. This position offers an exciting opportunity to work with a variety of materials, including plastics and metals, utilizing advanced machining techniques to support our manufacturing processes.
Duties
- Operate manual lathe and milling machines with precision, following detailed blueprints and technical drawings.
- Read and interpret complex engineering drawings, GD&T (Geometric Dimensioning & Tolerancing), and blueprints to ensure accurate machining.
- Set up and calibrate equipment using calipers, micrometers, bore gauges, and other precision measuring instruments.
- Could also involve CNC programming or assist with CNC machine setups as needed, utilizing CAM programming software for complex parts.
- Use hand tools, power tools, and tooling, to complete machining tasks efficiently.
- Conduct quality inspections using precision gauges, and other measurement tools to verify tolerances.
- Maintain a clean and organized workspace while adhering to manufacturing principles for optimal productivity.
- Support assembly processes by machining components that meet exact specifications.
- Follow safety procedures diligently, including crane operation when necessary for material handling.
Experience
- Proven experience as a manual machinist working with lathe and/or milling machines in a manufacturing environment.
- Familiarity with GD&T standards, blueprint reading, and mechanical drawings is essential.
- Ability to use precision measuring instruments such as calipers, micrometers, bore gauges, and coordinate measuring machines accurately.
- Basic math skills necessary for calculating dimensions, tolerances, and machine settings.
- Hands-on experience and strong knowledge of CNC programming is extremely helpful. CAM programming, SolidWorks, CAD software is also highly desirable.
