American Traveler is seeking a Certified Surgical Technologist (CST) for a General Surgery OR position in Santa Fe, NM, requiring at least 1 year of experience and BLS certification.

Hospital-based General Surgery OR setting in Santa Fe, NM

4x10-hour shifts, 6:30 AM–5:00 PM
-
No weekend requirement

On-call is optional; candidates may pick up call shifts voluntarily but it is not required

Floating within Surgical Services is required as needed

Minimum of 1 year of experience as a Surgical Technologist

High school diploma or equivalent required; completion of an accredited Surgical Technology or LVN/LPN program required

BLS certification from the AHA required
-
CST credential or LVN/LPN license required if applicable

Ability to scrub in General Surgery cases; proficiency in 3 or more specialty areas (e.g., Transplants, Open Heart, Urology, Neurology, Robotics) highly preferred

Candidates living within 50 miles of the facility are subject to a radius rule

Prepares the OR by setting up tables, instruments, and supplies according to case type using physician preference cards, and keeps preference cards current

Establishes and maintains the sterile field; passes instruments and sutures to the physician as directed

Prepares patient skin for surgery and positions patients according to the type of procedure
-
Transports patients to and from the OR suite and provides comfort and support for pre-operative patients

Identifies, cares for, and documents biological specimens
-
Actively monitors for and prevents breaches in aseptic technique throughout all procedures

Demonstrates competency in the use, care, and sterilization of surgical supplies, instruments, and equipment

Maintains proper OR traffic control, dress code compliance, and adherence to sanitation policies

Works collaboratively as part of the surgical team under the direction of a professional nurse
