Pet Resort Manager

Full-Time | Management Position
A Pet Villa is looking for an experienced, motivated, and hands-on Pet Resort Manager to lead the day-to-day operations of our established dog daycare, boarding, and grooming facility in Santa Clara.
We are looking for someone who genuinely enjoys working with animals but, just as importantly, knows how to lead people, manage a busy operation, provide excellent customer service, and hold a team accountable to high standards.
This is not a desk-only management position. Our Manager should be comfortable working alongside the team when needed while maintaining oversight of the entire operation.
Responsibilities
- Manage the daily operations of our boarding, daycare, and grooming facility
- Lead, supervise, train, and motivate our pet care team
- Create and manage employee schedules based on occupancy and business needs
- Ensure proper staffing levels while controlling unnecessary overtime and labor costs
- Maintain high standards for cleanliness, organization, safety, and animal care
- Monitor daycare playgroups and ensure proper handling and safety protocols are followed
- Ensure feeding, medications, walks, enrichment activities, and special care instructions are completed accurately
- Handle customer questions, concerns, and service issues professionally
- Communicate with pet parents regarding their pets and their stays
- Assist with reservations, daycare evaluations, check-ins, and check-outs when needed
- Monitor boarding and daycare occupancy and help identify opportunities to increase business
- Help develop daycare programs, promotions, events, and customer-retention initiatives
- Train new employees and provide ongoing coaching to existing team members
- Hold employees accountable for attendance, performance, cleanliness, and established procedures
- Conduct routine facility inspections to ensure standards are consistently maintained
- Work closely with ownership to continuously improve operations and the customer experience
- Assist with recruiting, interviewing, onboarding, and employee development
- Respond appropriately to pet health concerns, behavioral issues, and emergencies

Preferred Experience
- Previous management or supervisory experience required
- Experience in dog daycare, boarding, veterinary medicine, grooming, animal care, hospitality, or a similar service-based business strongly preferred
- Experience managing employee schedules and labor
- Experience hiring, training, and coaching employees
- Strong customer-service and communication skills
- Basic computer and business software proficiency

Schedule
This is a full-time management position.
Because A Pet Villa operates seven days a week and cares for pets during weekends and holidays, the Manager must have schedule flexibility and be available when business needs require it.
Weekend and holiday availability may be required.
Physical Requirements
Candidates must be comfortable:
- Handling dogs of various sizes
- Standing and walking for extended periods
- Working in an active pet-care environment
- Occasionally lifting up to approximately 50 pounds
- Working around barking dogs, cleaning products, pet hair, and normal kennel conditions
