Responsibilities
- Operate the Point of Sale (POS) system efficiently to process transactions accurately and swiftly
- Provide excellent customer service by greeting shoppers, answering questions, and assisting with product inquiries
- Handle cash, credit/debit card payments, and perform cash handling duties with integrity and accuracy
- Upsell products and promote store specials or promotions to enhance sales opportunities
- Maintain merchandising standards by stocking shelves, organizing displays, and ensuring products are well-presented
- Conduct product demos when applicable to engage customers and showcase features or benefits
- Follow phone etiquette protocols when answering inquiries or assisting customers over the phone
- Assist with inventory management tasks such as stocking and merchandising to ensure product availability
Experience
- Previous cashiering or retail sales experience preferred but not required; enthusiasm and a willingness to learn are key
- Familiarity with POS systems and basic math skills for handling transactions confidently
- Strong communication skills, including bilingual abilities, are highly valued for engaging diverse customers
- Supervising experience is a plus, demonstrating leadership in team settings or training new staff
- Experience in grocery stores or retail environments will be advantageous for understanding store operations and customer expectations
