Overview
The Mechanical Assembly Associate assembles mechanical and electro-mechanical products, subassemblies, and enclosures according to engineering drawings, work instructions, and bills of materials. This role is responsible for the accurate fit, fastening, and integration of hardware, cables, connectors, and components into finished assemblies that meet MNC's quality and workmanship standards. The associate is expected to self-inspect all work and take ownership of the quality of every assembly they complete before it advances to the next operation.
Main Functions
- Assembly: Assemble mechanical and electro-mechanical products, subassemblies, chassis, and enclosures per engineering drawings, work instructions, and bills of materials (BOMs).
- Hardware Installation: Install and secure hardware, fasteners, standoffs, brackets, and components using hand and power tools, applying correct torque specifications where required.
- Cable & Harness: Route, dress, and terminate cables, wire harnesses, and connectors; verify pin-outs and continuity per documentation.
- Documentation: Read and interpret assembly drawings, schematics, mechanical prints, and travelers accurately.
- Self-Inspection: Self-inspect all completed work for correct fit, alignment, torque, and workmanship, identifying and correcting defects before the assembly moves to the next operation.
- Rework: Perform rework and correction of assemblies as directed while maintaining quality standards.
- ESD Compliance: Maintain ESD-safe practices when handling electronic assemblies and sensitive components.
- Housekeeping: Keep an organized, clean, and safe work area and comply with all safety and housekeeping requirements.
- Productivity: Meet production throughput and quality targets while maintaining workmanship standards.
Qualifications
- High school diploma or GED equivalent, OR 3 years of mechanical assembly experience.
- Minimum of one (1) year of mechanical or electro-mechanical assembly experience in a manufacturing environment.
- Ability to read and interpret assembly drawings, mechanical prints, schematics, and BOMs.
- Proficiency with hand and power tools, including torque tools and measuring instruments.
- Experience with cable routing, wire harness assembly, and connector termination.
- Good manual dexterity, hand-eye coordination, and close-vision acuity (with or without correction) for detailed work.
- Ability to work independently, self-inspect, and take ownership of workmanship quality.
Preferred Qualifications
- Experience in a defense, aerospace, medical, or other high-reliability manufacturing environment.
- Familiarity with IPC/WHMA-A-620 cable and wire harness acceptability standards.
- Experience with crimping, potting, or conformal coating of electro-mechanical assemblies.
- Familiarity with ISO 9001 / AS9100 quality management systems.
Physical Requirements
- Ability to sit or stand for extended periods at a workbench or assembly station.
- Ability to perform repetitive fine-motor tasks and use magnification for prolonged periods.
- Ability to lift up to 35 pounds as needed.

Pay: $17.00 - $19.00 per hour
