About the Role:
We are hiring a Welder skilled in Gas Metal Arc Welding (GMAW), specifically Metal Inert Gas (MIG) welding techniques. This role is ideal for individuals passionate about welding and seeking to advance their skills in a dynamic steel fabrication environment.
Key Responsibilities:
- Communicate effectively with supervisors and team members.
- Operate material handling equipment (e.g., cranes, forklifts, pallet jacks, and rigging tools) to safely move and position steel materials.
- Accurately read and use a tape measure.
- Read and interpret shop drawings, diagrams, and welding symbols.
- Use math skills to read shop drawings, cut material, and measure angles and bevels.
- Diagnose and resolve material inconsistencies or other issues.
- Set up welding equipment, adjusting voltage, amperage, and wire feed speed as needed.
- Perform Metal Inert Gas (MIG) welding, material handling, grinding, and cleaning.
- Maintain high standards of safety, quality, and productivity.
- Collaborate with team members to complete projects efficiently.
Physical and Technical Skills:
- Math skills for measuring, cutting, and calculating angles.
- Demonstrate steady hands, good hand-eye coordination, and manual dexterity for precise work.
- Use spatial-orientation skills to assemble and weld components accurately.
What We’re Looking For:
- Experience: 2-4 years in welding, material handling, grinding, and cleaning.
- Certifications: Welding certifications are preferred but not required. Candidates are encouraged to bring any certifications to the interview if available.
- Skills: Strong attention to detail, commitment to safety, and the ability to work independently.
- Communication: Must understand and speak English to follow instructions, ensure safety, and communicate with supervisors & team members.
Pre-Employment Testing & Evaluation:
Candidates will complete a practical welding test to demonstrate their skills. Our shop supervisors will inspect your work and provide feedback.
Shift:
- 8-hour shift - 6:40AM - 3:10PM (in-person at Elmhurst, IL 60126)
- Overtime opportunities are available but not required.
Job Type: Full-time
Pay: $23.50 - $26.00 per hour
