Veterinary Surgical Technician

Louisville Veterinary Orthopedics is a specialized, modern surgical practice dedicated to restoring mobility and improving the quality of life for our patients. We are exclusively an orthopedic surgery clinic with focus on advanced orthopedic procedures and are looking for a skilled, passionate technician to join our high-performing surgical team.
Key Responsibilities
- Anesthesia Management: Induction, maintenance, monitoring, and recovery of orthopedic surgical patients.
- Surgical Assisting: Preparing operating rooms, maintaining strict aseptic technique, scrubbing in for procedures, and managing specialized orthopedic instrumentation.
- Patient Care: Administering multi-modal pain management plans, managing continuous rate infusions (CRIs), and providing exceptional post-operative nursing care.
- Client Communication/Record Keeping: Directly participating in initial and recheck exams, explaining discharge instructions, and providing post-op guidance to our clients.
Qualifications
- Experience: Minimum 2+ years of experience in veterinary anesthesia and surgical tech work (specialty or high-volume orthopedic experience preferred).
- Credentials: Licensed Veterinary Technician (LVT/RVT/CVT) preferred, but experienced non-licensed technicians will be considered.
- Skills: Strong proficiency in intravenous catheter placement, multi-parameter monitoring equipment, ability to lift 60 pounds, knowledge of surgical instruments and procedures, and drug dose calculations.
- Teamwork: positive attitude, collaboration, hard work, professionalism and reliability required
