Description:
To assist individuals with disabilities ages 13 and older in evening programs, implementation and oversight of the scheduled activities for both indoor and outdoor recreational settings.
Essential Functions:

To provide direct leadership, supervision, and assistance in the implementation of all assigned recreation evening programs and services.

Assist in providing developmentally appropriate activities that meet the needs and interests of participants with disabilities.

Assist in the implementation of daily activities in a program setting according to established schedule.

Accompany and participate with participants in scheduled activities or field trips.

Assist in the development and implementation of goals and objectives specific to area of responsibility.

Assist in the evaluation of programs and services in area of responsibility.

Maintain program area in a clean, organized, and neat manner.

Assist with the maintenance of reports and records regarding participants, programs and services.

Establish a cooperative working relationship with coworkers and parents.

Wear assigned uniforms while on duty.

Attend pertinent departmental/park district meetings and in-house training sessions.
-
Conduct self-according to the policies and procedures established by the park district.

Participate in park district safety and training program to ensure that work performed and services provided are implemented in a safe manner.
Age:
Education:
- Junior in high school or higher grade level.
-
High school graduation preferred.
-
Some college desirable.
Experience:
- Experience working with adults or children with special needs preferred.

Assisted in supervising groups of individuals in a recreational setting preferred.
Knowledge:
- General knowledge of recreation, parks, and leisure service field.

General knowledge of recreational programs and services for adults with disabilities.
-
General knowledge of developmentally appropriate activities for adults with disabilities in a recreational environment.
License / Certification:
-
Valid driver's license required for programs including transportation, otherwise preferred.
-
First Aid/CPR/AED certification required within one (1) year.
Hours:
- Weekday evenings, some weekends, and some daytime hours depending on program needs. Approximately 5 - 15 hours per week.
