THIS POSITION WILL BE HOUSED IN GIRLS REINTEGRATION CENTER (AGRC)
Why does the job exist?
This is a Supervisor position in a Juvenile Reintegration Center. This position is required to provide coaching and mentoring for new and established employees; creating staffing schedules for unit employees; reviewing and evaluating employee performance; and monitor retention of direct reports; ensure safe and secure custody of all assigned youth while ensuring that all youth are provided constitutional rights with special concerns for legal, medical and mental health issues; write reports and prepare required records regarding incidents, youth movement and noteworthy information; and ensure the documentation of all violations of facility operating procedures, rules and regulations and state and federal statutes.
This position has rotating standby (on-call) responsibilities for staffing, incidents and emergencies and must submit written reports.
How does it get done?
This position reports directly to the Reintegration Program Manager. Assist and guide staff in providing care, paraprofessional counseling and security during client activities to include unit living, environment, school, recreation, work release and off-campus activities; provide individual and group support for clients with with areas to include school, work, peer and staff relations, and daily activities; Responsible for discerning and implementing discretionary and prudent decisions in the face of emotional and/or physical encounters with enraged, distraught and/or intoxicated juvenile residents or in emergency situations within the facility; Ensure transport schedules an policies are adhered to and that Post Orders are followed by all staff. Ensure searches
are conducted of clients, living units and facility to determine presence of contraband and to secure it for disciplinary action; Administrative Support and Record Keeping; Prepare accurate written reports; Maintain confidential files, this position requires working knowledge of the Prison Rape Elimination Act (PREA) and the Collective Bargaining Agreement (CBA).

Minimum Qualification
Bachelor's Degree in psychology, guidance and counseling, penology, sociology, social work, and/or criminology and two (2) years of experience in a correctional setting, military duty, classroom teaching or instructing in a rehabilitative environment, supervising planned recreational activities, or active participation in community action programs, or for Correctional Officer Specialist positions, relevant work experience as it relates to the purpose of the position. Any combination of education from an accredited college or university in a related field or direct experience in this occupation totaling six (6) years may substitute for the required education and experience.
Employment Requirements
Completion of the hiring process is contingent upon successful completion of pre-employment screening process. This position is designated a safety sensitive. Employment is subject to pre-employment and random testing, in accordance with all terms and conditions of federal and state law, rules and regulations in relation to alcohol and/or drug testing. Employment requires successful completion of post offer pre-employment physical. Pre-employment criminal background check is required and conditional pending results.
Working Conditions
Work will be completed in various locations to include office, correctional facility, and community sites. This job could require running, lifting and possible physical intervention. Incumbents must be willing to accept changes in geographic assignment and be willing to work shifts, overtime, holidays, weekends and call back for emergencies. Incumbents must have a telephone and be willing to give the phone number to the supervisor.
Potential risk from juvenile actions. Incumbents must be willing to accept changes in geographic assignment. Some statewide travel may be required. Must possess and maintain a valid Driver's License.
