Seeking a Welding Laboratory Technician to prepare, test, examine, and document welded test specimens in a laboratory/industrial environment. The technician will follow safety procedures, industry standards, customer requirements, and ISO/IEC 17025 quality standards. Training will be provided.
Key Responsibilities:
- Receive, identify, and document welded test specimens and customer paperwork.
- Review work orders, drawings, and testing requirements.
- Prepare specimens through cutting, sectioning, grinding, machining, and polishing.
- Perform or assist with bend and tensile testing, visual examinations, and NDT activities.
- Operate laboratory and testing equipment after training.
- Accurately record measurements, observations, and test results.
- Maintain specimen identification, traceability, and required documentation.
- Perform equipment checks and maintain a clean, safe work area.
- Report damaged specimens, equipment issues, or questionable results.
- Follow all laboratory, quality, confidentiality, safety, and PPE requirements.
Qualifications:
Required:
- High school diploma or equivalent.
- Basic mechanical aptitude.
- Ability to read technical instructions, work orders, drawings, and procedures.
- Ability to perform accurate measurements and record technical data.
- Ability to safely operate tools and laboratory equipment after training.
Preferred:
- Experience in welding, fabrication, machining, materials testing, laboratory work, or NDT.
- Knowledge of welding processes or AWS, ASME, ASTM, or similar standards.
- Experience with bend/tensile testing or specimen preparation.
- NDT experience or certification.
- ISO/IEC 17025 laboratory experience.
Physical & Work Environment
Requires extended standing/walking, lifting and moving specimens, bending, stooping, reaching, and use of hand tools and laboratory/testing equipment. Work may involve exposure to welding operations, machinery, noise, dust, fumes, heat, and other industrial hazards. Required PPE and safety procedures must be followed.
Pay: $19.00 - $29.00 per hour
