We are looking for an experienced, reliable Bookkeeper/Office Manager to support two bar locations in the Katy/Richmond area. This is a part-time, in-person position with steady morning hours and some flexibility outside of required paperwork days.
The ideal candidate is detail-oriented, trustworthy, organized, able to work independently, and experienced with QuickBooks, payroll, reconciliations, and small business bookkeeping. This is a good opportunity for an experienced bookkeeper looking for steady part-time work while still taking ownership of an important function. The right person will be able to help catch up on reconciliations and bills, improve recordkeeping and organization processes, and communicate clearly with ownership as questions come up.
Pay
$32–$40 per hour, depending on experience.
Schedule & Location
- Approximately 15–20 hours per week to start
- Morning availability required 3 days per week
- Work will be split between two bar locations in Katy and Richmond
- Travel time between locations, bank runs, and approved work-related errands will be paid as part of the job
- Additional hours may be available for inventory, extra paperwork days, or other office responsibilities
- Additional hours may be needed during the first few weeks to help catch up on reconciliations and other backlogged work
- One location allows smoking during business hours. This position does not require working while the bar is open, but there is residual smoke odor.
- Limited flexibility may be available for a well-behaved child to accompany the employee during morning/pre-open paperwork hours, with prior approval
Responsibilities
- Complete daily/weekly paperwork at both bar locations
- Get change and make bank deposits
- Reconcile bank statements and accounts
- Process payroll every two weeks
- File and pay payroll taxes, sales tax, and liquor taxes
- Enter, file, and pay invoices and other bills
- Maintain employee and independent contractor paperwork
- Enter new employees into the POS system
- File W-2s and 1099s
- Track and maintain employee TABC certifications
- Order employee uniforms
- Enter new drinks/items into the POS system
- Handle credit card chargebacks
- Develop budgets and review P&L statements with management
- Maintain organized financial and office records
- Assist with inventory, reporting, and other office/administrative responsibilities as needed
Requirements
- QuickBooks experience required
- Prior bookkeeping experience required
- Experience with reconciliations and cleanup bookkeeping strongly preferred
- Strong attention to detail and accuracy
- Ability to work independently and meet recurring deadlines
- Comfortable handling confidential employee and financial information
- Reliable transportation to both locations
- Valid driver’s license and ability to make bank deposits/change runs as needed
- Strong communication and organizational skills
- Background and/or reference check may be required due to access to financial records, payroll, and deposits
Preferred Qualifications
- Payroll experience strongly preferred
- Accounting experience a plus
- Bar, restaurant, hospitality, or small business bookkeeping experience a plus
- Experience with POS systems, sales tax, liquor tax, payroll tax filings, W-2s, and 1099s preferred
Pay: $32.00 - $40.00 per hour
