Duties will vary based upon the assignment, and may include, but not be limited to: supporting and assisting students in various school settings including the classroom, playground and cafeteria.
Terms of Employment: These positions are filled on an as-needed basis during the school year. The hours/days will vary depending upon the assignment.
- Depending upon the assignment, substitutes may be required to meet the highly qualified para educator requirement of proof of high school graduation, an Associate's Degree or the equivalent (48 semester/72 quarter hours) from an accredited college or university OR a passing score of 455 on the ParaPro Assessment
- Depending upon the assignment, the ability to lift and/or move up to 50 lbs. may be required
- The successful candidate for these positions must be fingerprinted at their own expense. Employment is contingent upon a satisfactory background check and clearance by Washington State Patrol and the Federal Bureau of Investigation.
Salary Range: Pay is based on the substitute's job classification during the assignment ($18.18-$20.92 per hour)
Benefits: Eligible employees may accrue sick leave at the rate of one (1) hour of sick leave for every 40 hours worked under Washington State Law. Upon working 630 hours in a school year, eligible employees and their qualified dependents may be eligible for insurance benefits through School Employees Benefits Board (SEBB) which includes, medical, dental, and vision. Employer-paid long-term disability, life and AD&D insurance are available for the employee only. Optional benefits under SEBB include, supplemental life, employee paid long-term disability, FSA and DCAP.
