American Traveler is seeking an experienced RN for a PACU position requiring both PreOp and PACU experience, with a minimum of 2 years ICU experience in a Level I trauma center environment.

Hospital-based PACU setting at a Level I trauma center

Day shift, three 12-hour shifts per week (36 hours/week)

On-call shifts are required: travelers must select 1–2 Saturday shifts per 8-week scheduling period

On-call windows include Saturday nights (7p–7:30a), Sunday days (7a–7:30p), and Sunday nights (7p–7:30a); travelers are asked to choose 2 day and 2 night on-call shifts per 8-week period

13-week contract

Active DC RN license required (no pending licenses accepted)

Current certifications required: BLS, ACLS, and PALS (AHA-issued only)

Certifications highly desirable: CPAN, TNCC, and CCRN

CPI certification mandated for this position

Minimum 2 years of PACU/PreOp experience required

Minimum 2 years of ICU experience required; surgical center experience does not meet this requirement

Both PreOp and PACU experience required

Graduate of an accredited or NLN-approved RN program required

BSN highly desired

Two manager or supervisor references preferred, verifying experience within the previous 12 months, with at least one from the most recent employer

Ability to think critically and work independently

Monitor post-operative patients' levels of consciousness and recovery from anesthesia and provide updates to the medical team

Obtain and record patients' vital signs and observe for signs of anesthesia side effects
-
Administer prescribed medications to treat pain, nausea, and other post-operative symptoms

Update EMR charting, patient files, and medical records
-
Educate patients and families on post-surgery care
-
Candidates must reside more than 25 miles from the facility to qualify for the travel pay rate
