JOB DESCRIPTION: Newberry College invites applications for a full-time non-tenure track Instructor of Mathematics to begin in August 2026. Candidates need to have the education and skills to teach undergraduate-level college math courses. The successful candidate should be able to engage students through personalized pedagogy to be active participants in their learning, help the students build confidence in their intellectual abilities, and develop alternate strategies to help students grasp the material.
JOB FUNCTIONS: Responsibilities include teaching at least 12 credit hours of mathematics courses per semester, grading, participating in assessment, maintaining student office hours on campus, attending general faculty meetings, and other duties customary of a faculty member within an academic department, including but not limited to curriculum review and coordination of the course schedule.
EDUCATIONAL OR OTHER HIRING REQUIREMENTS FOR THE POSITION
A master's (required) or doctoral (Ph.D.) degree in Mathematics or Mathematics Education. Candidates with master's degrees who have significant high school math teaching experience will be considered. Excellent teaching evaluations are required.
