Position Summary
The Director of Finance provides strategic and operational leadership across all financial functions of the organization. This role is responsible for overseeing financial management, accounting operations, budgeting, forecasting, project profitability, cash flow, risk management, and compliance. The position serves as a key advisor to executive leadership, ensuring financial strength, operational efficiency, and scalable growth.
Essential Functions of the job:
Financial Management:
● Lead all financial operations including accounting, budgeting, forecasting, cash flow management, and financial reporting.
● Oversee accounts payable/receivable, payroll, work-in-progress (WIP) reporting, job costing, and project profitability tracking.
● Monitor project budgets, change orders, margins, and cost overruns across construction projects.
● Ensure compliance with accounting standards, tax laws, labor regulations, lien laws, and financial reporting requirements.
● Direct audits, internal controls, and risk management processes.
● Support estimating and operations teams with bid analysis, pricing review, and financial guidance.
● Analyze KPIs, maintain executive dashboards, and advise leadership on financial strategy and organizational growth.
● Oversee accounting systems, financial technology, capital planning, and fleet/equipment expenditures.
● Manage sales catalog pricing and compensation/incentive planning to ensure profitability.
● Maintain accurate and profitable sales catalog pricing structures.
● Oversee insurance coverage, claims management, and contractual financial risk mitigation.
● Manage working capital to ensure sufficient liquidity for payroll, materials, and project obligations.
● Develop internal controls to prevent fraud, billing errors, and financial leakage.
Qualifications
● Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, Business Administration, or related field.
● 3–5 years of progressive financial leadership experience, preferably in construction or project-based industries. Management experience required.
● Strong expertise in construction accounting, WIP reporting, job costing, and project margin analysis.
● Experience managing HR/payroll administration and office operations.
● Proficiency with accounting software, ERP systems, and financial reporting tools.
● Strong analytical, leadership, communication, and strategic planning skills.
● Reports directly to the President/CEO and serves as a strategic partner to executive leadership.
Pay: $70,000.00 - $71,000.00 per year
