WingXpand is seeking a skilled Fiberglass & Composite Mold Technician to build precision components for our next-generation autonomous aircraft. You will transform MDF molds, fiberglass, carbon fiber, and epoxy into flight-ready parts that Expand What’s Possible™. This work is fast-paced, physical, and precise but some of the most fulfilling work of your career. Marine fiberglass, boatbuilding, tooling, automotive, and aerospace experience all translate well.
Key Responsibilities
- Build, shape, seal, sand, and finish molds, plugs, and patterns.
- Fabricate fiberglass and carbon-fiber parts using wet layup and vacuum bagging.
- Perform mold preparation, curing, demolding, trimming, bonding, and finishing.
- Identify and correct surface defects, voids, and dimensional issues.
- Read drawings and work instructions to produce accurate, repeatable parts.
- Collaborate with engineers to improve tooling, quality, and production speed.
Qualifications
- 2+ years of experience in fiberglass fabrication, mold making, marine repair, boatbuilding, tooling, or a related trade.
- Hands-on experience building or finishing MDF molds, plugs, or patterns.
- Experience with fiberglass, epoxy, wet layup, fairing, sanding, and surface finishing.
- Strong craftsmanship, attention to detail, and ability to work at a fast pace.
- Comfortable performing demanding shop work with power tools, resins, dust, and required PPE.
- Reliable, self-motivated, and proud of building work that must perform in the real world.
Additional Qualifications
- Marine fiberglass, gelcoat, boat restoration, or yacht-repair experience.
- Experience with carbon fiber, vacuum infusion, prepreg, or oven curing.
- Background in composite tooling, pattern making, automotive bodywork, or aerospace manufacturing.
- Experience reading engineering drawings and using precision measuring tools.
- Passion for drones, robotics, autonomous systems, and building advanced hardware.
- Ability to satisfy applicable U.S. aerospace export-control requirements.
Pay: $17.00 - $38.00 per hour
