Summary:
SCOPE OF POSITION
The registered MRI technologist competently performs diagnostic MRI examinations on all patient types, i.e. inpatient, outpatient and emergency. The incumbent will possess excellent technical skills and demonstrate appropriate personality and desire toward service excellence. The incumbent will provide valuable input into performance improvement. The incumbent will work directly with the radiologist and/or attending physician with regard to MRI diagnosis.
Correlates and integrates MRI service and care for all patient ages from neonates to geriatrics using appropriate methods and assessment of orders, patient instruction, and sharing specialized knowledge with other members of the health care team. As a health professional, the incumbent will work to ensure appropriate shift coverage. The MRI technologist will rotate call responsibilities. In addition, the QC MRI technologist will be accountable for compliance with all pertinent JCAHO standards, ACR and local, state and federal regulations. Continuing education and local society involvement is a high priority.
Responsibilities include, but are not limited to, day to day operations of the MRI Department. The incumbent will be responsible for developing and implementing daily QA’s and will be responsible for leading the MRI department towards MRI accreditation and successful subsequent surveys. The incumbent will be responsible for the maintenance of all laboratory equipment, and ensures the compliance of the technical staff to the standard outlined by the facility and the Department of Radiology. The QC technologist assists with establishing specific performance improvement goals and objectives for their assigned department, and is actively involved in accurate recording, analyzing and reporting in a timely manner.
Requirements:
The registered MRI technologist will have either graduated from a AMA/CAHEA/JRCERT approved academic program. Two years experience in MRI.
Licenses and Certifications:
MRI certification.
