Identifies, coordinates and instructs orientation, basic, and in- service classes for uniformed and non-uniformed staff both at the SCDC training academy and at designated training locations throughout the state.
Researches, develops, and updates lesson plans, training aids, manuals, tests and evaluation instruments to comply with agency policy, ACA standards and state/federal law.
Maintains an accurate and up-to-date filing system for training.
Ensure records are maintained to meet aca, CLEE requirements and any enforced consent decrees.
Must successfully complete eight (8) weeks of SCDC Basic Training upon hire.

State of South Carolina Minimum Requirements:
A high school diploma and relevant experience. A bachelor's degree in a related field may substitute for the required experience
SCDC Minimum Requirements:
A high school diploma and three (3) years’ experience in correctional, security, military, or police work to include one (1) year of supervisory experience.
A degree in criminal justice or a related degree may substitute for supervisory experience year for year (associate and above = 1 year).
Must be certified by the SCDC Training Academy and successfully complete the basic supervisory courses within one (1) year of entry into the position.

Must successfully acquire a CDL within one (1) year and complete the following T4T courses: basic, defensive driving, defensive tactics, ICSC for corrections, firearms, First AID/CPR & AED, less lethal munitions, and respiratory fit testing. Must maintain performance standards for all T4Ts. Must possess good written and verbal communication skills, computer and typing skills.
